Islamic Advisor to President George Weah, Sheik Usmane T. JallohMONROVIA: Presidential Advisor on Islamic Affairs, Sheik Usmane T. Jalloh, has applauded Muslims in Liberia for embracing President George Manneh Weah’s first nation tour of counties.
Recently, President Weah toured six counties including Bong, Nimba, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland and Grand Kru.
Advisor Jalloh who was also travelled along with President Weah also thanked Muslims in Bong, Nimba and the South-eastern region of the country “for kind-heartedly coming out in their numbers to welcome the Liberian Leader on his first tour of various counties.
The tour which started on February 12, 2021 is aimed at strengthening the President and citizens’ relationship, inspect and also dedicate several developmental projects in Nimba, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, and Grand Kru Counties.
He said during the tour with the president, Muslims in Nimba, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, and Grand Kru Counties on several occasions gowned and presented gifts including goats, sheep and cows to him (Sheik Jalloh).
He added that Muslims applauded the Liberian leader for appointing a Muslims as an advisor to him, since Liberia was declared an independence state in 1847.
Speaking in an interview with journalists in Central Monrovia over the weekend, Sheik Jalloh said, the Muslims in those counties promised to support him (President Weah) during his presidency and will also buttress his government’s development programs and projects.
The President Islamic Advisor then used the occasion to urge Muslims in Liberia to rally behind President Weah in the development of the country.
Sheik Jalloh noted that, no past Liberian president or government ever had Islamic Advisor except President Weah so, Muslims in Liberia should join him for unity and the transformation of the Liberian nation for the benefit of all.
According to him, the Weah administration has exhibited religious tolerance therefore, he urged both Christians and Muslims to support the President in reconciling the entire country.
He said what President Weah has done during three years in office is more than other presidents in promoting diversity and tolerance.
According to him, the Liberia Leader has promised to reconstruct the central Mosque in Gbanga City, Bong County that was constructed many, many years ago.
