Weah Woos Investors At EXPO-2020 In Dubai

DUBAI/MONROVIA: In a drive of encouraging impactful investors to Liberia, President George Manneh Weah has assured World gathering of Presidents, and other dignitaries from 192 countries that “Liberia is open and ready for business”.

Speaking at the Liberia National Day program at the EXPO-2020 DUBAI held in the edifice of Dubai Expedition Center in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), under the Central Theme: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” with Sub-Theme: “Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability”, the President Weah expressed gladness that for the first time in the history of the World Expos Liberia is fully represented.
“I am very pleased and proud to note that this is the first time in the history of World Expos that Liberia is truly represented by having its own Pavilion. Thanks to the “One Nation, One Pavilion” policy of the organizers of the Expo 2022 Dubai”, President Weah stated.


The Liberian Leader made known his profound gratitude to the Expo-2020 organizer for providing the platform where he can share with the rest of the global community Liberia’s business and investment opportunities, and to showcase Africa’s oldest republic rich culture and history as well as deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership Liberia shared with UAE.
President Weah disclosed to the gathering of influential world class personalities that Liberia look to expanding its potential in several segments that can help increase economic growth placing key emphasis on the agriculture, tourism and the fisheries sectors.
“So as we showcase our potential on this National Day, we want to inform all participating countries that Liberia is open to business and that the potential can be transformative and mutual, and together, we can make Expo 2020 Dubai an unforgettable experience that will inspire both present and future generations”, President Weah said.
He used the forum to woo investment to Liberia with the focus to explore what he described as Liberia’s traditional and virgin sectors, which according to President Weah will help fill the large infrastructure deficit and to also enhance economic development.


President Weah also used the occasion to reminisce on the already cordial relationship he enjoys with UAE. He recalled being inspired by his stayed in the UAE to aspire for political leadership of Liberia.
President Weah States: “UAE is home to me. My experience in this country inspired me to get involved with leadership in Liberia to bring about change and to improve the lives of people. I therefore seek to maintain that relationship with my brother, particularly the ruler of Dubai and Crown Prince Abu Dhabi His highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al nahyan. Sheikh Mohammed has been with me ever since I signed to Al Jazira Football Club about 20 years ago in Abu Dhabi. I considered him a brother and a dear friend and I am confident the unique relationship we share will continue to be beneficial to both our countries and that the bilateral ties that bound both countries will be further strengthened.”
The Liberian Leader did not fall-short to mention Liberia’s Bicentennial celebration marking 200 years since the returned freed slaves to Liberia.
