State is slated to run Thursday through Saturday, reports a renowned United States Newspaper “The Jamestown Sun News site said.
The teenager, Annie Nabwe, age-18 could not hold back sharing the joy with her beloved mother, Yuku Zayzay, who is currently residing in Liberia.
She inked via email appreciating her mother and at the same time attributing her success in Track and Field in the US to the significant impact Madam Yuku Zayzay played in shaping her become the person she is today.
“I have lived for eighteen years, and you have been there all the days of my life even though we have been away from each other for about four years. You raised me fourteen years to the best of your ability,” youthful Nabwe said.
According to her, had it been for her mother permission to move to the US for better opportunities as opposed to Liberia; this, feat of achievement would have been far from reality.
She mentioned: “you passed down your awesome gene of being athletic, hard work, beautiful and some of your personalities. We have not seen each other for a while now and during those times, you call us constantly to check on our school work, our daily lives and more. I am so grateful and love and miss you.”
Joining the success train for the Nabwes was little Yolanda Nabwe, sister to the champion of the Athletic Track and Field competition.
The young lad also brought proud to the Nabwe and Zayzay’s families by winning a golden medal in a heated track and field race which was witnessed by several persons.
As a junior, Nabwe took third at the state meet in jav, collecting a personal best throw of 131 feet, 9 inches. Mandan’s Taylor Leingang won the 2021 javelin title with a throw of 141-02.
Nabwe’s best throw on record is 132-02. Or rather — it was.
Nabwe mustered a school and personal record-breaking throw of 144 feet, 9 inches to claim the Class- A girls’ javelin title.
“The biggest thing has just been the weather,” Dietz said of why the javelin has posed a challenge. “It’s been really cold and today was the first time she took all six throws.
“We know what we’ve got (with her) — we don’t need to wear her arm out early in the season. The cold is sometimes hard on the body but today was a nice warm day and she threw well.”
Four of junior Nabwe’s six throws in javelin were over 135 feet and her two bad throws were still over the 130-foot mark.
The soon-to-be Jamestown High School grad has accepted a full-ride offer from the University of Minnesota to join the Gophers’ track and field team. Nabwe will specifically compete in the throws for Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Matt Bingle.
While the next four years are pretty clearly laid out for her, Nabwe’s got one more sprint race on her docket before she says good-by to North Dakota High School track and field.
Despite Annie’s athletic achievements, she is also academically smart as she graduated from the North Dakota High School last Sunday, while her sister, Yolanda, aged-15 will be walking from high school next academic. Courtesy: Report the Jamestown Sun News site based in the United States of America.
