LACC Gets Tough …Names, Shames Suspected Corrupt Officials

MONROVIA: Following an investigation bordering on their alleged involvement in ingrained and unbridled acts of corruptions in government including abuse of office, conflict of interest, provision of false and misleading information, among others, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), has forwarded several senior government officials to the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) for prosecution.

The LACC also recommended that some of the officials be prosecuted for “Theft and/or Ill-legal Disbursement and Expenditure of Public Money.”

They have also been accused of involvement in Economic Sabotage, Fraud on the internal revenue of Liberia.

LACC, over the weekend referred the Minister of Agriculture, Jennie Cooper, and the Director General of the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), Prof. Francis Wreh, among several other officials in the George Weah-led Government to the MOJ for prosecution on corruption charges.

The LACC reports bordering on allegations of corruption also named other officials of line ministries and agencies and their deputies for prosecution.
