MONROVIA: The Ministry of Transport (MOT), in collaboration with the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), are expected to begin a joint Motorcycles and Tricycles Registration Compliance enforcement exercise today Monday, September 5, 2022.
Disclosing this over the weekend at a news conference held at the at the Ministry of Transport at the corner of Warren and Carey Street, the Director of Press and Public Affairs at the Transport Ministry, Mr. Lemuel O. Kleeme, disclosed that the rigorous motorcycle and tricycle registration compliance enforcement exercise will be done in collaboration with the National Federation of Tricycle and Motorcycle Association (NAFOMTAL), the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), and the Liberia National Police (LNP).
The exercises will be held in Montserrado, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Bong and Nimba Counties, he said.
Director Kleeme advised the inspectors to be professional in the discharge of their duties and encouraged the team members to conduct themselves consistent with MOT employee’s policy guidelines.
Director Kleeme cautioned operators of tricycles and motorcycles to cooperate with the joint enforcement team during the inspection and treat them with courtesy.
He further advised the joint enforcement team to engage tricycles and motorcycles operators with professionalism and civility.
Director Kleeme, used the occasion to call on owners of tricycles and motorcycles who have not regularized the status of their registration at the Ministry of Transport to take note and act accordingly by proceeding to the ministry or at various county service centers to avoid embarrassment.
He pointed out that, tricycles and motorcycles identified as non-compliant will be towed, parked, charged, and released upon completion or processing of the proof of valid registration documents from the Ministry of Transport.
For his party, the President of the National Federation Tricycle and Motorcycle Association (NAFOMTAL) Mr. Samuel G. Doapah, Jr. lauded authorities of the MOT, LNP and LRA for the joint motorcycles and tricycles registration compliance enforcement exercises.
He promised that all operators of tricycles and motorcycles throughout the country will fully comply with the enforcement team in the discharge of their duties.
He expressed joy that the exercise with now afford operators of tricycles and motorcycles nationwide to be fully identified to erase the negative notion people have against them that tricycles and motorcycles operators are often evolve in criminal activities such as stealing from passages.
Also speaking at the news conference, Mr. Lorenzo Beyan, Director of Motorcycles and Tricycles Division at the Ministry of Transport (MOT), said for the Monrovia area, the Motorcycles and Tricycles Registration Compliance Enforcement Exercises will take place at the following locations: Gardnerville Town Hall, Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex, Breweville City, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex and Caldwell.
The last time Motorcycles and Tricycles Registration Compliance enforcement exercises took place was in April 14 2021.
