MONROVIA: A visiting Liberian media tycoon, and a resident of Fargo, North Dakota, United States of America, Mr. Jarwinken Wiah, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Liberia (UL).
He visited the UL’s Fendall campus in Montserrado County.
During the visit, Mr. Wiah held talks with the Dean of the College, Prof/ Dr. Josephus Moses Gray.
Earlier, Dr. Gray welcomed Mr. Wiah to the College and the University of Liberia, and praised him for thinking about the college.
Dr. Gray later took Mr. Wiah on a guided tour of the UL Fendall campuses including the libraries, computers centers, classrooms and the Thelma E. Duncan Sawyer Faculty Lounge.
Mr. Wiah was also given opportunity to meet with Teaching Assistants including those who are preparing to depart the country for overseas studies at Sharda University in India to pursue their Doctorate and Master’s studies in various disciplines.
Mr. Wiah who worked with the North Dakota Social Services in Fargo will next week conduct a two-hour interactive session about American Electoral College.
The session is expected to be attended by students of the College especially students from the Department of Political Science and History.
He is an alumna of the University of Liberia. He also worked as Editor of the INQUIRER Newspaper in Monrovia prior to his departure from Liberia to America in 2021.
In a brief remark, Mr. Wiah praised the Dean of the College for the levels of improvement at the College and urged him to keep up with the great tasks.
He described improvements in the operation of the college as amazing. He also lauded UL President, Prof./ Dr. Julius Nelson, for the able leadership aimed at moving the university towards a positive direction and for the greater good of the country and its people.
He used the visit to praise the faculty and staffs for their commitment to teaching and services to the University of Liberia.
