For Tax Compliance, Others: NAFOMTAL, GOL Ink MOU

MONROVIA: The Minister of Transport, Samuel Wlue, has disclosed that his Ministry, in collaboration with stakeholders, has embarked on plans to ensure the formulation of transport regulated polices.

Minister Wlue said the collaboration with stakeholders will include the regulations relating to the movement of motorcyclists, as well as, the sale of helmets with motorcycle by importers or dealerships.

He made the statement at the Ministry of Transport on Wednesday at program marking the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of Liberia and the National Federation of Motorcycle and Tricycle Association of Liberia (NAFOMTAL).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is aimed at ensuring tax compliance, public safety, law enforcement, safe and efficient transport system, adherence to transport policies and regulations as well as peace and economic development.

Minister Wlue, however, assured the Transport Ministry’s full participation in the conduct of a joint motorcycle and tricycle registration enforcement inspection exercises throughout the country.

For his part, the President General of NAFOMTAL, Samuel Deapah, lauded the Liberian government for its continuous support to his organization and promised his organization’s commitment to work with the Ministry of Transport, consistent with the Memorandum of Understanding.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Samuel D. Tweah Jr., expressed thanks and appreciation to Minister Wlue and the leadership of the National Federation of Motorcycles and Tricycles Association of Liberia for the good working relations that have culminated into the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and urged the motorcyclists to remain law-abiding and contribute to government’s effort towards national development.

At the ceremony, the President General of NAFOMTAL, Samuel Deapah, signed on behalf of his organization while the Minister of Transport, Samuel A. Wlue, signed on behalf of the Transport Ministry and the Minister of Finance Development and Planning Samuel D. Tweah attested on behalf of the Government of Liberia.
