MONROVIA: The Vision for Liberia Transformation Party of Dr. Jeremiah Z. Whapoe has refuted claims that it has joined the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
In a press statement, dated March 13, 2023, the party stated that it was a blatant lie told by the CDC on Saturday, March 11, 2023, that the Vision for Liberia Transformation Party was part of other political parties that pledged its support to the re-election bid of President Weah.
VOLT, in its release noted that it is a serious minded political party, and is in no way willing to join other opposition parties that are supporting the second term election of the ruling party (CDC).
“Your serious-minded party, the Vision for Liberia Transformation Party, has not joined any Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) for Demonizing Crooks,” Whapoe asserted.
The release further noted that the ruling party, headed by incumbent President George Manneh Weah, has no future with the Liberia People and has never done anything for the Liberian People that warrants their (VOLT) supports.
The party (VOLT) said that they remain resolute and cannot join the CDC for any reason noting, how the ruling party has failed the country massively.
VOLT maintained how over the past five years plus, the Weah led government is yet to fulfill its promises and to complete major pillars in its failed PAPD that was crafted to guide its alleged criminal activities.
According to the opposition party, the CDC led government has over the past time, worsened the suffering of the Liberian people with Economic Tsunami that has swept all over the country.
“For an ordinary Liberian to have one meal for the whole day is not so easy, and at some point, there are people who go to sleep hungry because they cannot afford for the day,” the statement read.
VOLT has, at the same time, accused the ruling party of being noted for its “many political violent tactics to scare anyone who tries to point out facts about its incompetence.”
It pointed out that the Weah led government is “known for silencing its critics through diabolic means” as what they have been seeing since the ascendency of the ex-soccer star, George Manneh Weah.
VOLT: “The Coalition for Democratic Change has breaded lot of hooligans, Waywardness among the young people, and lot of criminals”.
VOLT furthered referenced how three officials of the CDC led government were sanctioned by the country`s strongest ally, the United States of America, and at the same time recalling that Liberians have recorded under the Weah administration, mysterious disappearances of citizens, ritualistic killings and many more that are uninvestigated.
The statement which was signed by the Party National Chairman, Erasmus Fahnbulleh, states that the Coalition for Democratic Change is noted for lies and failures, and has no moral standing to attract serious minded party like the Vision for Liberia Transformation (VOLT), whose purpose, according to the release, is to transform Liberia through agriculture as its premier goal.
The party’s clarity came days after six (6) opposition political parties have signed a joint resolution to join the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change of President George Manneh Weah, promising to support his re-election bid, comes October 10, 2023.
The six (6) parties officially declared their full membership to the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change, thus changing the name to the “Grand Coalition for Democratic Change”.
The six-opposition political party included that joined the CDC included: Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), Union of Liberian Democrats (ULD), United Peoples Party (UPP), Redemption Democratic Congress (RDC) and Change Democratic Action (CDA), including the late Dr. Daniel E. Cassell
s People’s Liberation Party (PLP).
Though the Vision for Liberia Transformation Party is not mention among these political parties, but the Party is alleging that the CDC has mentioned its party’s name during the ceremony on Saturday March 11, 2023, an allegation this paper is yet to confirm.
VOLT is an opposition political party, headed by Dr. Jeremiah Z. Whapoe, as Standard Bearer who participated in the 2017 Presidential elections in which in (Whapoe/VOLT) obtained 3, 946 votes constituting 0.25%, out of the 1,641,922 votes (100%).
