by News Manager

MONROVIA: The Opposition People’s Liberation Party (PLP) founded by the late Dr. Daniel E.Cassel has suspended Jerry Kollie and some Counties Chairs indefinitely for violating the party’s constitution.

PLP National Chairman, Mr. Bernard Benson told a News Conference over the weekend in Congo Town that those suspended include Jerry Kollie, Chairman Bong County; Mohammed A. Bility, Chairman, Margibi County; and Emmanuel Greene, former Chairman, Grand Cape Mount.
He named others as Oscar Holmes, former Chairman of Bomi County; Mrs. Evelyn Yarkolie-Morries, former Chair of Nimba County; and Abraham Sirleaf, former Chairman of Montserrado County.
He said the decision to suspend them was done through the National Executive Committee as well as its General Advisory committee and ordered to face the grievance and ethics committee of the party for investigation.
The PLP National Chairman pointed out that, allegation made by Mr. Kollie and others against the party is untrue and lacks logical reasoning and should not be taken seriously because it doesn’t represent the PLP at any level.
Mr. Benson clarified that the PLP decision of April 8, 2023 to formally join collaboration with the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) met the consensus of the executive committee of the PLP at its last convention held.
Recently , Mr. Jerry Kollie spoke with a local radio station on April 17, 2023, stating that the PLP merger with the CDC did not meet the consensus of the of the executive committee of the PLP.
But, reacting to Jerry Kollie allegation, Mr. Benson said it was unbelievable that Mr. Kollie and others did not participate in almost all of the collaboration meetings and agreed at the just ended special National Convention that the party be directed to the CDC.
According to him, the PLP General Advisory Committee is also troubled that Mr. Kollie and others have gravely violated the party constitution.
He said before the PLP joining the CDC, their late Standard Bearer, Dr. Daniel Cassel, was the first to endorse the CDC in Lofa County during the 2020 Special Senatorial Elections.
“What we are doing is in keeping the legacy of our late Standard Bearer, Dr. Daniel Cassel, alive and making his dream a reality” he said.
