MONROVIA: A Liberian female Representative Aspirant for Gbarpolu County, Madam Fatu Sheriff Schmidt, has urged citizens of Electoral District #2 in Gbarpolu County, to fully participate in the October 10, 2023, Presidential and Legislative Elections.
Madam Schmidt who is contesting in Gbarpolu County Electoral District#2 as an independent candidate told a gathering of citizens in the county recently that, if she is elected in the October 10, 2023, Presidential and Legislative Elections, she will ensure that the county gets its rightful benefit.
She said even though, the county is small but, it is rich with gold, diamond and other natural resources that can be used for its development.
She stressed that it can be only be done if the rightful people are elected.
Madam Schmidt emphasized that, the 2023 electioneering process will provide an opportunity for all Liberians to vote and be a part of the national leadership decision-making.
She said it is the right of every eligible voter to vote. She used the occasion to plead for good behavior and avoid violence by young people.
“Your vote is your right to choose your government, to be able to exercise that right you must be peaceful and orderly,” the female politician said.
Madam Schmidt noted that, the best way to hold the government accountable is to choose individuals of impeccable characters.
She noted that Gbarpolu County is among the richest counties in Liberia considering its endowment with natural resources. She indicated that if managed properly, the resources would lead to massive developments in the county.
Gbarpolu County’s is also among some of the votes- rich counties in Liberia. For example, in its electoral District # 1, a total of 16,986 females were registered, while 9,678 males were also registered while in electoral District # 2, a total of 18,824 males registered, while 8,613 females have been registered, among others.
Bopulu serves as the Capital with the area of the county measuring 9,689 square kilometers. Gbarpolu County was created in 2001 when it was split from Lofa County. Gbarpolu is the youngest county in Liberia.
The county is bordered by Grand Cape Mount County to the west, Bomi County to the southwest, Bong County to the south, and Lofa County to the east and north part of Gbarpolu borders the Republic of Sierra Leone.
