BUCHANAN CITY: A huge crowd of supporters of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) on Saturday, May 27, 2023, stormed the Fairgrounds (National Building Square) in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, as they witnessed the official endorsement of Counselor Charlyne M. Brumskine, daughter of Liberia’s celebrated constitutional lawyer, Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, (late), Founding Father of the opposition Liberty Party (LP).

Charlyne, an American trained Lawyer was selected by CPP Standard Bearer, and popular global corporate executive, Alexander Benedict Cummings as the Vice Standard Bearer of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).

The scene was described as one of the largest convergences of Liberians in the country recent political history.
Several traditional, cultural dancers as well as masked and folk music dancers from Grand Cape Mount, Margibi, Rivercess, and Grand Bassa Counties, entertained thousands of overzealous CPP partisans, supporters, and sympathizers who graced the historic, well-attended and colorful program.

The crowd paraded along with a ‘long chain of CPP vehicles constituting a convoy through the main Tubman Street to the Fairgrounds for the official endorsement ceremony.

Dozens of CPP auxiliaries including the Paco Movement for Real Change, Muslims United For Better Liberia, Changes of Women Organization, Charlyne’s Angels, CPP-USA Chapter, Liberia Solidarity Movement, and the African Creative Fashion Group, among others carried banners as they also chanted slogans of support and allegiance to the “Cummings/Brumskine Ticket,” terming it as the best, most qualified and competent to replace the inept leadership of incumbent President George Weah.

Music and sounds of drums and folk songs echoed from and around the Fairgrounds especially by the various traditional Bassa-speaking groupings, wearing CPP T-shirts with inscriptions such as “Bassa-Land Says Yes” in jubilation for the ticket.

At the official program, a 12-member Elder Council of Grand Bassa County welcomed and appreciated the CPP Standard Bearer, ‘ABC’, for his previous visits to the votes-rich county and his subsequent selection of their daughter, a brilliant legal mind, Counselor Charlyne M. Brumskine as his running mate in the October 10 Presidential and Legislative elections.

In keeping with traditional rites, they later presented Charlyne to Mr. Cummings, gowned the pair, and pledged support and absolute loyalty to the success of the CPP, comes October this year.

The elders also presented a traditional handmade cutlass to former Grand Bassa County Senator Gbehzohngar Milton Findley, who is also former Minister of Foreign Affairs, for onward presentation to Mr. Cummings, signifying smooth and peaceful transfer of working tool the Cummings-Brumskine Team for the crucial task ahead. The FIXER is fully prepared.

Presenting the cutlass to Mr. Cummings, the former Grand Bassa County Senator also expressed appreciation for the CPP choice of Counselor Charlyne Brumskine as Vice Standard Bearer.
Charlyne Brumskine, few months ago, topped the Liberian Supreme Court Bar Examination, which qualified her to practice law before the Honorable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia, in addition to her brilliant scholarly performances in the United States School System from which she is a product.

Mr. Findley said with Charlyne as running mate, he officially declared his unflinching support to the Presidential bid of the CPP’s Standard Bearer, Mr. Alexander Cummings.

Charlyne’s mother, Mrs. Estelle Brumskine, in a special statement, paid glowing tribute to her late husband and founder of the Liberty Party, Counselor Charles W. Brumskine and subsequently thanked the CPP that comprises the Alternative National Congress, the Liberty Party and other auxiliaries and politicians for the decision to select her daughter as running mate to Mr. Cummings, alias (“ABC”).

Making the official pronouncement of Counselor Charlyne M. Brumskine, the CPP Standard Bearer said he was gratified to have selected a daughter of Grand Bassa County and for her acceptance to serve as his (Cummings) running mate in the pending Presidential and Legislative elections.

Cummings also expressed profound gratitude to the elders and people of Grand Bassa County for the massive show of support and solidarity at Charlyne’s endorsement in Buchanan on May 27, 2023.

The CPP Standard Bearer said together with Charlyne, party stalwarts, supporters and the Liberian people, they will work assiduously to restore good governance, transform the life of the masses, and change Liberia for the good of all Liberians.

He assured Liberians that upon his ascendancy as President of Liberia, effective next January 2024, Liberians will begin to experience immediate positive changes in their living conditions and the national governance system.

Earlier, in an acceptance statement, Counselor Charlyne Brumskine extended thanks and appreciation to the CPP for her selection as a running-mate to Mr. Cummings.

She made a passionate appeal to citizens of Bassa-Land including Grand Bassa, Rivercess, Margibi, Montserrado Counties and elsewhere in Liberia as well as Liberians in the Diaspora to join the CPP Campaign and elect Mr. Cummings as the next President of Liberia.

Also, several other prominent citizens including Aspirants for legislative seats in Grand Bassa and Rivercess made remarks, rallying the support of all Bassa citizens residing throughout Liberia to join in the REAL CHANGE agenda of the CPP to make incumbent Liberian President, George Manneh Weah, one-term President.

Weah’s first constitutional six-year presidential term is expected to expire in October this year but CPP and other opposition political parties rate his six-year performance as poor and disappointing to the entire country and its people, hence, the need for a Real Change, which they argued, cannot be overemphasized.

Weah too is seeking reelection for another six-year constitutional term, boasting that he has fulfilled his major development promises to the Liberian people.
