Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe has lauded the Liberian Legislature for passing the drug bill into law which would make drugs importation a non-bailable offense.
“Making the drug law a non-bailable crime will help mitigate its abuse and cycling across the country,” the renowned human rights Lawyer added.
He said some of the reasons why substance abuse has increased across the country, is that often perpetrators are released on bail.
Gongloe said, if this continues, it will be difficult to win the fight against drugs despite government efforts.
Cllr. Gongloe however, used the occasion to call on the Liberian leader to sign into law the drug law passed by the Liberia Legislature, something which he said, will help to make Liberia to be free of drugs.
The LPP Political leader also appealed to the government to empower the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and its security partners to help the fight against drugs importation, proliferation and addiction.
