LPP Set to Unveil Vice Standard Bearer Saturday

MONROVIA: Liberian People’s Party (LPP), has disclosed plans to officially unveils its Vice Standard Bearer, Dr. Emmanuel Urey Yarkpawolo on Saturday, July 8, 2023 in Gbarnga, Bong County.

According to the press statement issued by LPP, Dr. Yarkpawolo, a resident of Electoral District 4, in Bong County, and President of the Salvation Army Polytechnic in Monrovia was named recently by the political leader of the LPP, Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe, as his running-mate in the October 10, 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections.

The statement said Dr. Yarkpawolo’s nomination is expected to ease pressure or speculation on Gongloe and his LPP following months of search and consultations with partisans and supporters in and outside of the country.

LPP pointed out that, the process was vigorous having listed several prominent figures in the country but amongst them, Yarkpawolo emerged the chosen one.

So far among the opposition political parties, the Unity Party (UP), the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), the Liberian National Union (LINU) and the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC) have all announced their running mates.
The LPP statement said Grand Bassa County’s Electoral District#1 has endorsed the presidential and representative bids of both Tiawan Saye Gongloe and Michael Blojay Draper in the upcoming October polls.

The statement said the ceremony was held recently at German Camp or Camp Michelin, near Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, where residents of the town (German Camp) and surrounding villages did the endorsement on Sunday, July 02 during an elaborate program.

Meanwhile, in an updated version relative to the ongoing candidate nomination exercise nationwide, 3,336 packages have been collected with independent aspirants picking up 225, while political parties have taken 2, 970 packages so far from the National Elections Commission (NEC).

NEC said each political party was issued package for 73 aspirants in four categories; 73 for Representative seats, 15 Senate seats, one for Vice President and one for President.
