MONROVIA: The Standard-bearer of the Liberian People’s Party (LPP), Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe, has called on Liberians to kick “corrupt people” out of government.
According to him, because of corruption, Liberia is recorded as one of the poorest and dirtiest countries in the World.
The LPP political leader promised that when he is elected as President of Liberia, he will use the broom, as a symbol, to sweep corruption out of Liberia.
Gongloe named corruption, mainly in the public sector, to be one of the main reasons for the prolonged backwardness of Liberia.
He noted that from decade-to-decade, the menace of corruption including siphoning of public funds and other resources by many state officials, past and present, deprived Liberia and the vast majority of its ordinary citizens the benefits they deserved.
“The main issue that has been keeping this country backward is corruption and it exists because of the lack of respect for the rule of law, human rights, total lack of patriotism and nationalism,” he stated.
Cllr. Gongloe pointed out that Liberia cannot be a better place for its citizens and others without respect for the rule of law.
He observed that disrespect for the rule of law continues to scare away investors and tourists from doing businesses here and boosting the tourism sector in Liberia.
He said the October 10, 2023 Legislative and Presidential Elections are therefore, a perfect opportunity for Liberians to rethink and/ or to make up their minds in deciding the best ways forward for the Nation.
He stressed that the Liberian People’s Party (LPP), of which he serves as Standard-bearer is the best alternative for the country’s development.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, on a gigantic pickup truck, with a micro phone, when he paraded the principal streets of Monrovia, the renowned Liberian Lawyer indicated that, due to poor management of available state resources, the healthcare system in Liberia has fallen into more dislocation and decay, under the George Weah-led administration.
“Due to poor management of available funds, the healthcare system in Liberia has fallen into even more dislocations and decay under the George Weah-led administration. What is more, the situation is complicated by systemic corruption, institutional inefficiency, and the lack of enough health facilities,” he said
He promised to provide free healthcare services for all pregnant women, children under 5, and Liberian citizens 65 years or above.
The LPP political leader added that, Liberia, under his administration, public health centers including clinics and hospitals would become the best in the country.
According to him, if elected President, he will prioritize eradicating corruption in Liberia by publicly disclosing salaries of all government officials and punishing those who steal from the Liberian people.
He promised to provide free education from primary to senior high school level by making all public schools in the country tuition-free.
He promised to provide study materials to students so they can offer tutoring classes for adults who are illiterate while pledging to address the poor conditions of roads in the various regions of the country by providing necessary equipment in each county.
Cllr. Gongloe, a former President of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA), and a prominent figure in the legal and human rights spheres, has a remarkable history, characterized by his unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law in Liberia.
