MONROVIA: The opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) of Alexander Benedict Cummings (ABC), has announced an 800-member campaign team.
The Team, according to CPP, reflects geographical balance and the country’s cultural and traditional political diversity with former Foreign Minister, Dr. Togar McIntosh, as National Campaign Advisor and Mr. Lewis Browne, former Liberian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), as National Campaign Chairman.
According a to press release from CPP’s Communication Officer, James Kiazolu, the CPP has also named the National Campaign Chairmen of the 15 counties, dedicating them, with the authority to select other committed and dedicated partisans as team members to conduct and coordinate the party’s campaign actives in the various counties.
The CPP Standard-bearer, Mr. Alexander Cummings, who announced the first batch of national campaign chairmen and deputies, also announced that all CPP Legislative Aspirants will serve as Campaign advisors, the release asserted.
The full list of CPP Campaign officials is expected to be published in the local media, according to the National Campaign Chairman, Mr. Lewis Browne.
Making the pronouncement, Friday, August 18, 2023, Mr. Cummings expressed gratitude to the thousands of partisans, supporters, sympathizers and well-wishers who braved the rain, to attend the ceremony at the CPP’s headquarters in Monrovia.
He said the huge turnout and show of support in Montserrado County and elsewhere for his Presidential bid has assured him of victory on October 10th.
According to the release, Cummings spoke confidently of the CPP’s ascendancy to state power and rejected the persistent false claims by President George Weah about his so-called ‘one round victory’ for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
He said “George Weah, at the peak of his soccer popularity and general goodwill of Liberians, won only 38 percent of the total votes, and now with a despicable record of corruption, bad governance, ineptitude, failed promises, and sluggish economy, Liberians are determined to dump him.”
Cummings said Liberians will have to make a choice whether to return to the past of disappointments and frustrations, remain in the present with Mr. Weah and living in extreme poverty and uncertainties, choose a promising future of hope and economic prosperity with a CPP-led government.
He asserted that only a CPP-led government can lift Liberia out of its economic dungeon, restore good governance, attract direct foreign investments for massive job creation, maintain law and order, combat corruption and drug smuggling and guarantee a better life for Liberians.
He reaffirmed CPP’s commitment to the formation of an inclusive government without political, ethnic and religious discrimination.
The program was attended by several senior CPP stalwarts including River Gee County Senator Jonathan Sogbie who spoke of the dire need for Liberians to change from “this irresponsible administration of President Weah to a responsible government led by Mr. Cummings,” who he said has an enviable world record of achievements and successes.
Also, Montserrado County District # 10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, who attended the program, denounced the “inept leadership” of CDC-led government and said Liberians will dare not give President Weah a second term on October 10th.
Remarks were made by the National Chairman of the Collaborating Political Parties, Mr. Musa Bility, and Ex-Senator of Bong County, Mr. Henry Yallah, who is the County Campaign Chairman, and several other CPP Legislative Aspirants.
At the same time, Montserrado County Senatorial Aspirant Victoria Koiquah reaffirmed her commitment to the CPP’s mandate to elect Mr. Cummings as the next President of Liberia.
