MONROVIA: Unity Party (UP), Standard-bearer, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has described the pending Presidential and Legislative elections as “Make or Break” moment for Liberia.

Speaking during his tour across Montserrado County, which kicked-off on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the Barnersville Estate Sport Pitch in District #11, Ambassador Boakai said, for Liberia to get better, it is important for everyone to rise up.

Boakai: “This election is not about me but everyone; and if we don’t do, Liberia will remain backward.”

“This is the last chance you have to rescue yourself, don`t allow it slip off your hands,” he cautioned.

The presidential hopeful noted that his mission is to change the unfavorable living conditions of the Liberian people who have suffered for too long in their own country.

Boakai: “What kind of leader rides all over the place and don’t see the appalling living conditions of the people.”

The UP first partisan stated that it is a shame to see people who were elected by the people building houses all over the country and enjoying themselves, while the vast majority of ordinary people continue to go to bed with hunger, and have no opportunities to live better in their own country.

“If the conditions of the people you represent are not improved, and they can`t live better in their own country, it is a shame on national leaders,” Boakai blasted.

He said the current national leadership, headed by President George Manneh Weah needs to know that the resources of the country belong to everyone and that those who are elected to lead the country are just privileged to manage the state resources in the best interest of all.

“Everywhere you go, it is a shame that people are stealing, leadership is about looking after the people who elected you, and not to look only after yourself,” JNB maintained.

Ambassador Boakai assured Liberians that the country will get better. However, he indicated that it will not happen under those who only care for themselves.

He encouraged voters to put confidence in his leadership, promising that when that happens, Liberians will start to feel proud about their country from day one of his leadership and that the country would regain its dignity among the comity of nations.

“People don’t respect Liberia again, but in less than two months in my administration, the name, Liberia will change for all the right reasons,” he promised.

The former Vice President promised that his administration will provide safe drinking water in every community, electricity, good education and other basic social facilities across the country.

He said teachers will be paid regularly, hospitals will no longer be in bad conditions as they are currently and that people’s lives will be insured because he will make sure to clean all of the sectors under his watch as President.

JNB: “I will not allow any child from elementary to junior high, especially at a teen-age to go in the streets to sell, no, we will not allow that during my leadership, the children are the future of the nation, that is why we should give them more attention by providing for them good and quality education and not to make them bread-winners.”

Ambassador Boakai said his leadership wants to restore hope to the country and that he will not allow anyone to steal from the people and go free in his government.

“In a JNB government, we will not allow anyone to steal from the people, because when you’re hurt, we are hurt,” he mentioned.
He noted that his team (rescue mission) wants to bring an honest government to the country and try to make life better for its citizens.

He accused the current CDC-led government of suppressing Liberians-owned businesses, a situation which he said, has created more hardship and poverty in the country.

JNB: “If you don’t have rights in your own country, where will you have them? Liberian businesses are dying right before our eyes, they are suppressing you, for us, we don’t want people feel sorry for you, but we want them to respect you.”

He told potential voters that there are monies coming to the country that are not being used for the benefit of the Liberian people, as such funds are being misdirected by the country’s ruling elites.

“There are monies coming to the country but not reaching to you but going elsewhere and we will change that, we know what they are doing with it,” Boakai vowed.

“We can change all of what happening in our country today, we can provide more jobs for you, but on October 10, if you do anything different, you’re doing it to yourself, and not me,” JNB cautioned.

Boakai who is widely believed to be the leading opponent to incumbent President George Manneh Weah appealed to Liberians to take him by his words and hold him by his promises.

“We are appealing to you, take me by my words, I will make Liberia better and Liberians proud,” he promised.
