Jaye, has extolled Liberians for turning out in their numbers and for voting peacefully in the first round of the Legislative and Presidential elections which were held on October 10, 2023.

He said as Liberia now prepares for presidential runoff involving incumbent President George Weah and opposition leader, Joseph Boakai, on November 7, 2023, Liberians must again turn out peacefully in the run-off elections.

In an interview with this paper recently in Monrovia, Mr. Jaye noted that during the first round of the elections, Liberians exercised their civic or patriotic duty.

He added that it is commendable to see that Liberians were considerate of their values regardless of their political, social and religious differences.

He used the occasion to appeal to all stakeholders, particularly political parties, candidates and their supporters as well as the security forces to remain professional and to uphold the due process of law.

He stressed that Liberians’ willingness to work, reason, and commiserate with each other, signifies strength and resilience.

“I hope we will take this opportunity to come together with one voice and focus on our strengths and aspirations and how we can best support each other,” he asserted.

Mr. Jaye indicated that, the sense of patriotism exhibited by polling staffs, joint security forces and the general populace, collectively played their parts, leading to peaceful conduct of the 2023 Legislative and presidential elections.
