MONROVIA: The United People’s Party (UPP) says considering the historical role it has played over the past forty (40) years of struggle for Multi-Party democracy in Liberia, the results of the just ended 2023 general and presidential elections underscored the fact that the struggle for Multi-Party System in Liberia was not in vain.
“The UPP strongly believes that its concrete efforts for the promotion of Mult-Party Democracy in Liberia will always help to ensure the creation of an enabling environment that will attract investments and encourage growth and development.”
In a press statement issued over the weekend UPP congratulated the President and Vice President elect, Ambassador Joseph Nyemah Boakai and Jeremiah Kpan Koon for their victory in the just ended 2023 Presidential RUN-OFF Election.
The party wished the new Administration well on its six (6) years political journey; a mandate that was given by the people of Liberia in the 2023 General and Presidential elections.
The UPP statement noted that, as Liberia embarks on this new chapter, the party stands ready to work with the new Administration for the common good of our beloved Country.
“Congratulations Mr. President elect, Amb. Joseph Nyemah Boakai and Mr. Vice President elect, Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koon, on this well-earned success. May your presidency be marked by prosperity, Unity, and continued progress,” the statement noted.
UPP also congratulated the Liberian People for the responsible and peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves during the just ended general and presidential elections on 10th October and 14th November respectively.
The party said this is a clear indication that “our young democracy is on the right trajectory, and that the Liberian people are willing and ready to work together to sustain their democracy and to move the country forward in this new political dispensation.”
UPP in its statement also commended the Government of the Republic of Liberia under the “bright Leadership” of President George Manneh Weah and the National Elections Commission for the peaceful and democratic conduct of the 2023 General and Presidential Elections.
UPP’s in its statement said esteemed sentiments go to the United States Government, the European Union, African Union, the ECOWAS, Elections Observers and other friendly Governments accredited near our Capitol-Monrovia, for their role in ensuring that the Liberian elections were free, fair and transparent.
