MONROVIA: HYSAA Liberia Inc, a local and licensed company providing sanitation and other related environmental protection services has volunteered to clear Monrovia and its environs of stockpiles of garbage and other human wastes.

The clean-up exercise is being conducted ahead of the inauguration of Liberia’s President-elect, Joseph Nyuma Boakai. The new President of Liberia is expected to be inducted on 22, Janaury, 2024.

“We are proud and delighted to be a part of the clean-up campaign activities ahead of President- Boakai and his Vice President-elect, Jeremiah Koung,” said Clara Kenfack, HYSAA Liberia operational manager.
“The goal is to keep Monrovia clean,” Madam Kenfack indicated.

She narrated that for over ten years, HYSAA Liberia collaborated with both the central government and the Liberian private sector, providing sanitation and other hygienic services to a wide range of clients across various locations in the country.

It is also fair to say that Monrovia and parts adjacent have been effectively enveloped by garbage, and human wastes, oozing out offensive smells which have the potential to cause health hazards.

It is not clear whether or not HYSAA Liberia is working in collaboration with the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), which has, among others, the statutory responsibility to keep Monrovia clean and green.

Currently, the company is assisting the team of young people with manpower and logistics such as trucks and other key materials.

Over the weekend, hundreds of young people, wearing dominant red suits, and fully armed with various sanitation materials took charge in the cleaning of several principal streets of Monrovia city, effectively giving a noticeable facelift to the city.

The volunteers are cleaning drainages and removing mountains of dirt from various deprived but densely populated communities.

“I just want to encourage everyone because this is a volunteer work; as we are going around, we are calling on our people to clean-up their communities because we may not be able to reach every community,” said Madam Kenfack.

HYSAA Liberia support is in line with earlier pronouncement by president-elect, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, over the need to clean Monrovia and restore its hygienic condition.

Joseph Nyuma Boakai, recently remarked that: “You can be sure that Liberia is headed in a different direction. The days of ceremonial City Mayors are long gone. To honor Liberia, whatever we do must reflect our nation. Together, we will strive to improve Liberia. By insulting people, you do not build a nation, and the rescue squad will not put you through any more ordeals.”
