Boakai Assures People-centered Reforms

MONROVIA: President-elect, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has assured the European Union (EU), of his desire and resolve to ensure people-centered reforms in Liberia.

Boakai also vowed to tackle corruption and conduct audits.

The President-elect also informed the European Union that he will carry out reforms that will be in the best interest of the Liberian People.

He emphasized that the resources of the country will be protected and used for the benefit of the Liberian people, stressing that by doing that, the nation will reduce its dependence on other nations for survival.

The Incoming President made these assertions during a formal meeting at his Offices in the Rehab Community of Paynesville with the EU Delegation.

He averred that to achieve the reforms as outlined by his platform, his government will require the involvement of all of Liberia’s partners.

He went on to emphasize that his Government will not be partisan, but will embrace all Liberians regardless of political persuasion but commitment and competence will be the measuring rod for employment into Government service.

He again pointed out that there will be audits to prove to all Liberians that governance is stewardship or accountability to the people and that from the constitution of the cabinet, all Liberians will know that the Unity Party- led Government is serious about its rescue mission.

Earlier, the European Union Delegation to Liberia said, EU will remain engaged with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.

The delegation highlighted in their discussion forestry, diversity, agriculture, climate change, business climate, fishery, culture, rule of law and investment.

“There were also highlights on critical interventions such as feeder roads, food security, justice, accountability, vulnerable people, drugs, vocational training and cultural exchange.”

The President-Elect then provided copies of his ‘ARREST Platform’ to the European Union Delegation.
