MONROVIA: The Federation of Real Estate Agency of Liberia (FE REAL) in collaboration with its international partner, Madam Marvina F. Skaf, conducted a two-day pre-sales realtor certification and licensing program at the YMCA Hall on Broad Street in Monrovia.
The training program, held over the weekend, was the third of series of training for real estate agents/brokers that is expected to take place within a period of three to four years.
The training was intended to build the capacity of all stakeholders within the real estate sector of Liberia.
It was graced by representatives of various government entities like the Liberia Land Authority, Liberia Revenue Authority, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Ministry of Mines and Energy and etc.
With several challenges facing the real estate sector of Liberia, scores of real estate agents, investors and brokers established what they termed as the “Federation of Real Estate Agency of Liberia (FE REAL)” with the help of its US-based Liberian, Madam Marvina F. Skaf.
Madam Skaf arrived in the country over two weeks ago to help revamp the fragmented sector of the real estate and put it under one institution and also formulate by-laws and regulations that will improve the integrity of real estate actors.
Inducting into office officers of FE REAL, Dr. Emmanuel Urey Yarkpawolo, disclosed that Liberia lacks the attributes of what he termed as servant leaders but urged the newly elected officials of FE REAL to make the difference and put their organization on par with other international real estate entities.
“Unfortunately, these attributes of servant leaders are largely lacking in our Liberian society today,” he noted.
Dr. Yarkpawolo also cautioned officials of FE REAL to be honest with their followers and practice integrity, transparency and accountability.
Also, for his part, the Liberia Land Authority, Assistant Director for Land and Property Valuation, Rev. Charles N. Kortimai said the real estate sector plays a pivotal role in the revenue generation of any nation.
Rev. Kortimai indicated that Liberia offers a promising land for real estate investment but urged that if the real estate sector should improve, the government of Liberia must be able to receive its portion of any revenue that will be generated.
He lauded Madam Skaf and officials of FE REAL for coming together under one umbrella and establishing a framework document that will prevent those unscrupulous individuals from damaging the image of the real estate sector.
One of the major brains behind the establishment of this noble institution is a young female Liberian based in the United States of America, Madam Marvina F. Skaf who has over nineteen years of experience in IT operations, cyber-security, marketing and has worked with the United States’ real foreign estate investors.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Real Estate Agency of Liberia (FE REAL) over the weekend inducted its officials into office to steer the affairs of the organization for the period of three years.
Those inducted into office were Jeffery M. Nyellekeh, Sr., President; Edward Dickson, Vice President for Administration; Alphonso Wiah, Vice President for Operation; Victor Q. Moses, Treasurer; and Oral Duo, Financial Secretary.
