MONROVIA: The Culture Ambassador of Liberia, Julie Endee, has issued a Lawsuit against Nayabougua Olpa Yeazeahn, alias ‘Prophet Key,’ for libelous and slanderous campaign to harm, defame, embarrass and humiliate her.
Culture Ambassador Endee dragged the social media blogger to the Judicial Circuit Court, Montserrado County Civil Law Court, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
In a writ, Julie Endee informed the court to adjudge the defendant liable for general damages, valued at Five Million United States Dollars to be decided by the trial jury.
The complainant requested the court to hold the defendant for US$300,000 in punitive damages and US$250,000 for successful attorney fees.
In a petition filed before His Honor. judge J. Kennedy Peabody, resident circuit court judge of the civil law court, plaintiff Julie Endee averred that defendant Nayabougua Olpa Yeazeahn, in December 2023, on two separate occasions, “he willfully, purposely and intentionally” took to his social media platform where he engaged in a libelous and slanderous campaign to harm, defame, embarrass and humiliate her (plaintiff Endee).
The plaintiff stressed that the defendant is believed to be a Liberian citizen who currently resides in the Arab Kingdom of Morocco and operates a talk show on several social media outlets such as Facebook, and TikTok.
The petition further provided that the defendant did not only engage in libelous and slanderous campaign but also characterized her as a “person who is engaged in indecent relationships” with persons of high profile.
“The defendant did not just make defamatory and derogatory statements against her person but labeled the plaintiff as an indecent person who is engaged in inappropriate relationships with high profile persons.
To name a few, former president Charles Taylor, current president George Weah, and is attempting to engage in an inappropriate relationship with the secretary general of the Unity Party (UP), Amos Tweh.
Meanwhile, the Circuit Court Judge, J. Kennedy Peabody, has summered the living body of defendant Prophet Key to appear before the sixth judicial circuit, civil law court of Montserrado County in its March term of court, on March 18, 2024, to answer to complaints of the plaintiff.
The court further stated that upon his failure to appear, judgment by default would be rendered against him.
“You are at this moment commanded to summer the within named defendant Mr. Nayabougua Olpa Yeazeahn, (AKA Prophet Key ) of the Republic of Liberia, in the above-entitled cause of action to appear before the six judicial circuit, civil law court of Montserrado County, sitting in its March Term 2024, at the Temple of Justice building to convince on the 18th day of March 2024, at the hour of ten O’clock in the morning, to answer to complaints of the plaintiff mentioned earlier inaction of damage for label and slander.
That upon his failure to appear, judgment by default will be rendered against him,” the Court ordered.
