Disastrous, Out of Order!…Sen. Dillon Slams Planning of Boakai’s Inaugural Events

MONROVIA: Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon, has termed as “disastrous, completely messy and out of order” the planning of the inaugural ceremony of President Joseph Boakai and Vice President, Jeremiah Kpan Koung.

The Senator said, it is an embarrassment and shame to the Liberian Nation that must not be swept under the carpet.

Addressing the third day sitting of the first session of the Liberian Senate Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the Montserrado County Senator stressed that the planning of the events of the inauguration was out of order, coupled with a “messy protocol.”

The Liberty Party strongman, who now chairs the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, blasted that “the inaugural program never demonstrated that Liberia is more than 170 years,” referencing the lack of water and poor sound system during the event.
Senator Dillon further called on members of the Liberian Legislature to administer future protocols, leading to other important national functions to avoid a repeat of the disgraceful incident.
Meanwhile, President Pro-Tempore of the Senate, Madam Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, has instructed the various Chairs on the Senate’s Committees on Executive, Rules, Order and Administration, Ways, Means, Finance and Budget and Foreign Affairs to work with the Lower House for proper planning going forward.
It can be recalled that on Monday, January 22, 2024 during the inauguration of President Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung on the grounds of the Capitol Building, the Liberian leader suffered heat exhaustion, which led to the abrupt end of his speech.
At the same time, the early concern raised by the Montserrado County Lawmaker comes ahead of the President’s return to the 55th Legislature to deliver his first State of the Nation Address on Monday, January 29, 2024.
