MONROVIA: As the reported struggle for governmental jobs intensifies in, and among some officials and supporters of the governing Unity Party Alliance, one of the main supporters of UP Alliance, businessman, George Kailondo, has urged ‘UPists’ to give President Joseph Nyuma Boakai chance to form his government.
Since the ascendency of President Boakai some 15 days ago, some partisans and members of the UP Alliance including UP Chairman, Rev./ Dr. Luther Tarpeh, have been protesting for jobs.
But, businessman Kailondo, who is a staunch supporter of the ruling Unity Party (UP) has cautioned supporters of party to give President Boakai chance to appoint the best and qualified individuals in his government.
Atty. Kailondo, in a brief chat with newsmen said, it is too soon for supporters of the Boakai-Koung administration to be complaining about placements in government. He contended that President Boakai has made only 15 key appointments. He said there are several other public offices for which the president has not appointed people.
Kailondo has stressed the need for UPists to remain calmed as the President is working out modalities to ensure rightful individuals are nominated to various positions.
So far, Atty. Kailondo believes that the President’s thought on selection of people of trust to pubic positions are in the best direction and interest of the state, contrary to some critics that the President is moving very slowly in the appointment of his officials.
He said the President’s vision is to also ensure that individuals of public trust are appointed to the Cabinet.
He believed Liberians should be patient as the President prepares to hit the ground running with his development agenda, capturing the UP led government’s ARREST manifesto.
“The president is a man of wisdom who will make decisions at the right time,” Kailondo praised Mr. Boakai.
Attorney George Kailondo has been in the vanguard, supporting UP and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s vision for President of the Republic of Liberia since 2017 when Boakai was defeated by former football star, George Manneh Weah, till his retaliation of defeating Weah in the November 2023 Presidential runoff elections.
The UP strong man is among several persons who President Boakai can trust with leadership role in his government, given his wealth of experience at the Liberia Petroleum sector for many years and his good knowledge of the petroleum and maritime sector.
George Kailondo is a season’s lawyer with extensive years of experience and has a chain of businesses, providing jobs for over 100 Liberians in the private sector.
However, in 2017, due to his support for UP, his property in Congo Town was nearly demolished and he was prevented from developing the area for five years.
He did not bleach his support to President Boakai with all the apparent strangulations and humiliations by previous governments.
He is among several competent, qualified and experienced Liberians to probably be sent to any of state-owned institutions such as Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), Liberia Maritime Authority or other areas in which he will be of service to the country.
