MONROVIA: The Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Aidar Abdychev, along with a delegation on Monday February 19, 2024 paid a courtesy call on Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa at his Capitol Building office. The meeting was characterized by constructive discussions on collaboration and synergies between the Office of the Speaker and the IMF in overseeing activities vital to the economic development of Liberia.
According to the House Press Bureau, during the courtesy call, the focus was on establishing modalities to enhance cooperation between the 55th Legislature and the IMF in providing effective oversight of financial and economic matters.
The discussions centered on how the Legislature can play a pivotal role in supporting the activities of the IMF and the Government of Liberia.
Speaker Koffa expressed his commitment to fostering a strong working relationship between the legislative branch and international financial institutions, emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and good governance in managing the country’s economic affairs.
