More Electricity … From Ivory Coast; Kula Fofana Discloses

MONROVIA: Presidential Press Secretary, Madam Kula B. N. Fofana, has disclosed that the Ivorian Government, through Liberia’s President, Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s recent visit to that country, has doubled Liberia’s electricity power being received from the Ivory Coast.

According to Madam Fofana, the President visit to Ivory Coast got a fruitful result, as such, Liberia has started receiving the increment in power supply.
She highlighted that initially Liberia was receiving about 25 kilowatts but based on President Boakai’s recent, and negotiation, the Ivorian power supply to the Republic of Liberia has been increased to 50 kilowatts.

“The President is very excited and wants the Liberian people informed that the country has started receiving 50 kilowatts from Ivory Coast and the team at the LEC is working very hard to ensure that the power supply triggers down to the people, which is the most important thing on his agenda,” she added.
The Executive Mansion, on March 6, 2024, issued a release in which it stated that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai was leading a high-powered Liberian government delegation to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for a two-day official visit which began on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

At the time, the Executive Mansion release disclosed that during the visit, President Boakai and his Ivorian counterpart, President Alassane Ouattara, were to hold discussions regarding a range of issues which centered on Liberia-Ivory Coast relations.

The focus will be on matters related to the Liberia-Ivory Coast Framework Agreement, electricity, agriculture, and regional security, Executive Mansion stated, then.
The President’s visit was to also establishments TRANSCO-CSLG and the National Center for Agronomical Research, with the aim of fostering knowledge exchange, skill-sharing, and technological cooperation between the two nations.

However, speaking at Executive Mansion Weekly Press Briefing over the weekend, the Presidential Press Secretary, Madam Kula B. N. Fofana said
Liberia has already started receiving the increment in power supply.

Meanwhile, Madam Fofana said President Boakai interest is to really see his meetings, conversations and all others have an impact on the Liberian people.
