Gov’t Secures 61% Privilege passports

MONROVIA: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Madam Sara Beslow Nyanti, has disclosed that the ministry is in possessions of 61% of Liberian service passports that have been returned.
Minister Beslow Nyanti made the disclosure when she addressed the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), Special Press Briefing, Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Minister Nyanti explained that the 61% service passports in the ministry’s possession are inclusive of 115 diplomatic passports, 39 official passports and 76 service passports.

She continued that the request to return those passports are not political, rather it is a process to ensure that the Liberian passports are respected and given value.

She further indicated that the restrictions on the privilege passports is to also ensure that only eligible Liberians are in possession of these passports and not foreigners including drug dealers and people with tainted characters.

Few weeks back, the Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, issued a directive, requiring all holders of Diplomatic Passports to return them.

The directive from the minister came with the time frame of March 19, 2024. According to the Foreign Minister, failure to comply by April 25, 2024, will result in the passports being deemed invalid and unusable.
