MONROVIA: The Liberian National Police (LNP), says its has completed its Investigation into the deadly protest in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County, that led to the death of approximately three persons, injury of several others and destruction of properties.

Addressing a major press conference over the weekend at the LNP headquarters, Police Inspector General (IGP), Gregory O. W. Coleman, said LNP has forwarded the Investigation report to the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) for further review and another independent Investigation before prosecution and action.

” The LNP has completed its Investigation into the protest of Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County that led to the death of three of our citizens and injuries of several. The report has been forwarded to the Ministry of Justice. We recommended in the report that the Ministry of Justice forward the report for further prob,” IGP Coleman stated.

Accordingly, he pointed out that the Civilian Oversight Compliance Board has oversight of the LNP to validate the level of accountability and independence in the report.

The LNP Inspector General added that the body is intended to conduct a second review before the report is released to the public.

He stated that the Civilian Oversight Compliance Board comprises the Barack Associate, Association of Law Enforcement Professionals, Federation of Liberia Youth and the Independent Human Rights Commission among others.

The Police IGP lamented that the Investigation report is in two phase or components including criminal Investigation and the shooting or discharge of lives bullet that led to the death of three persons.

IGP Coleman stated that they are more concerned about the shooting incident because it led to the death and injuries, therefore they dispatched a team of investigator who spoke with both parties namely: the officers and residents and to compile the report.

” We are doing this second review by an independent body so that to prove accountability because anyone could say that we are a party and they can’t trust our Investigation. And so, the report is pending forward to the Civilian Oversight Compline Board for validation and further Investigation,” he concluded
