In a remarkable display of friendship and cooperation, early Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), through its Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, donated a solar power project to Liberia’s Posts and Telecommunications Ministry.
The project is one of the significant achievements in the practical collaboration between PRC and Liberia which aims to provide a stable, reliable, clean and green power supply to the central office of the Ministry of Post and eight counties post offices.

The project started 2023 with the installation of solar panels at seven rural posts offices with the aim of electrifying those facilities which are going to enhance postal digitalization to include remittance and ecommerce in the rural areas.

Remarking at the handover ceremony at the office of the Minister of Post, Sekou M. Kromah, Ambassador Chengwu said the implementation of the project is expected to greatly improve the local communication infrastructure conditions, and bring benefits to counties such as Montserrado, Bomi, Margibi, Bong, Nimba, Grand Gedeh, among others. With a reliable power supply, Liberia’s economic and social development is set to receive a boost.
He further asserted that PRC and Liberia have long been steadfast friends, partners, and brothers.

Under the visionary leaderships of President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Boakai, the relationship between the two countries is entering a new stage of growth.
The Ambassador added that PRC remains committed to the principles of sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith in its relations with Liberia, working together to achieve fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation.
According to him, the generous donation reflects the strong bond between China and Liberia, highlighting their shared commitment to progress and development.

The solar power project is a shining example of international collaboration for the greater good, the envoy stressed.

For his part, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Sekou M. Kromah, accepted the hand over project by signing a certificate along with the Chinese Ambassador.
