Digital Training Begins In July …For 10,000 Youth

MONROVIA: The Government of Liberia (GOL), has launched the 10,000 Youth Information Communication Technology (ICT) Program which will begin July 2024.

Speaking at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) regular press briefing Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the Acting Chairman of the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA), Adullah Kamara, said the aim is to empower the youth, train them in e-Governance (the accessibility of knowing the happenings in the government).

According to him, the program will also help boost the Liberia’s digital market because the youth will be enlightened on the positive impacts the internet has with marketing businesses to ease customers stress.

Commissioner Kamara disclosed that currently, there are 5,000 applicants for the training. He stressed that they are making progress.

In an era where digitalization reigns supreme, Liberia stands at a pivotal moment in its history with the implementation of this project.

The project is expected to illustrate a vision to embrace change and foster progress with the nation embarking upon a bold initiative which is a Digital Transformation Project.

The LTA Boss also noted that the program falls under the Digital Transformation initiative, integrated into various development sectors and government agendas, aims to harness the power of digital innovation for the betterment of the nation and its people.

So far, the opportunities presented by digital transformation are vast and promising. From improving access to education and healthcare to fostering entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, digital technologies offer a unique pathway for Liberia to overcome traditional barriers to development.

Meanwhile, the government, through partnerships with various ministries and agencies, aims to train 10,000 young Liberians in a range of digital skills within a short timeframe of 6 months.

He added that the ambitious endeavor will not only equip the youth with essential skills but also lays the foundation for a digitally empowered workforce.

According to him by Liberians embracing digitalization today, the nation paves the way for a brighter tomorrow, where its citizens can compete and collaborate on the global stage with confidence and capability.

At the same time with the launch of the National Digital Transformation Project, Liberia takes this step towards a modern and digitized society.
