Juazon/Sinoe County: Officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP), in Juazon District, Sinoe County, have arrested and charged a man identified as Patrick Dejeah, for firing at another man, identified as Robert Kweh, alias “Bitter-Roots-Man,” with a Single-barrel-gun.
This paper has gathered that the incident occurred recently in a hunting bush.
Robert Kweh, popularly known as “bitter root man”, was allegedly shot at on May 13, 2024, by Patrick Dejeah in Juazon District, Sinoe County.
Police authority in Sinoe County charged suspect Dejeah with multiple crimes including ‘Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, escaped after Committing the Act, Disorderly Conduct and Illegal Possession of Fire-arm.
However, police investigation did not disclose the status of the fire arm relative to its registration as called for by the Government of Liberia (GOL), through the National Commission on Small Arms and light weapons.
However, sources said Patrick is a regular hunter who has been in possession of fire arm for multiple years.
For his part, the 42-year-old hunter told police investigators and local authorities in the District that after the shooting incident, he was afraid as a result of the action, thus causing him to go in to hiding.
But, contrary to the accused statement, the victim, Robert Kweh, told eyewitnesses’ earlier that after he was fired at by the hunter, he (victim) shouted for rescue.
Victim Kweh explained that the accused, Patrick later rushed to him and tied the wound with clothe and tried lifting him up, but due to his weight (victim), the hunter left him in a pool of blood and vacated the shooting scene.
It was while he(victim) was crying in agonies that other bush workers later discovered him and offered him first aid treatment.
Interestingly, it is also gathered that the families of both the accused and the victims are at loggerheads on grounds that the victim’s family is demanding a refund of whatever expensive they have made for his medical attention.
It is not clear as to the total expenses made by the victim’s family and his current health status.
