MONROVIA: The Religious Adviser to former President George Manneh Weah, Reverend Emmanuel Nimely, has been arrested and currently is under criminal investigation by the Liberia National Police, for allegedly duping over ninety Liberians.

Rev. Nimely served as Spiritual Adviser under the six-year regime of the erstwhile Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led Government, then, headed by ex-President George Weah.

He also serves as Pastor of Weah’s Forky Klon Jlateh Fellow Ministry in Margibi County.

“The Liberia National Police has arrested and is investigating the former Religious Advisor to former President George M. Weah, Rev. M. Emmanuel Nimely for his alleged involvement in theft by deception, receiving money under false pretext, visa fraud and suspected human trafficking,” the LNP said in a statement on Monday.

Rev. M. Emmanuel Nimely was arrested on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Forkay-klon Family Fellowship Church in the Baptist Seminary Community, Montserrado County, where he serves as Pastor, based upon a complaint filed by some of the victims, headed by H. Momo Fortune, Jr.
Police initial investigation revealed that in early August 2023, Suspect Nimely received the amount of Nine Hundred Seventy United States Dollars (USD970.00) each from Ninety (90) persons totaling Eighty-Seven Thousand Three Hundred United States Dollars (USD87,300.00), under the pretext of taking them to Australia to attend a Church conference.

“Meanwhile, Rev. Emmanuel Nimely is currently in Police custody undergoing investigation to be forwarded to Court,” the Police disclosed.

But, Rev. Nimely, in an interview with Journalists Monday, June 3, 2024, vehemently rejected allegation of duping over ninety Liberians.

“Everything being said about me is false and fake. I have every document in my possession to prove me innocent,” Rev. Nimely averred.

The Forky Klon Church Pastor said the Conference Participants were denied as a result of an alarm raised by Prophet Key. The Clergyman said he was not arrested but he is currently at the Headquarters of the police.

Rev. Nimely’s accusers are requesting refund of their money that he alle3gedly “took” from them under the pretext of offering them travelling opportunities to Australia.

Many of the victims alleged that Rev. Emmanuel Nimely received at least $ 700 USD, 1,000USD, 1,500 USD and 2,000 USD respectively from each of them for visa processing to Australia which has never been done.

“We here to ask Mr. Nimely to refund our money. The money was given to him individually to travel to Australia but we realized that the program is faked; so we want our money,” Christian Johnson, one of the victims said in an interview.
