Erratum on Mistaken Identity

by newsmanager

In the Vol. 23, NO: 03, Thursday, June 06, 2024 Edition of this paper, we published a sub front page lead news story captioned: “At LDEA: US Drugs Expert Takes Driver’s Seat.”

In the news article, we published that “following the suspension of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency, (LDEA), Director General, Mr. Abraham Kromah; Deputy Director General for Administration, Mr. Gbawon Kowon; and the Deputy Director General for Operations, Mr. Hassan Fadiga, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has named Mr. Christopher Peters, as the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA).
In the news article, Mr. Christopher Peters was mistakenly identified by our reporter as an American Drugs Expert. Mr. Peters LinkedIn page indicated as follows: “I spent six years as a police officer in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Staff Sergeant, spanning two overseas deployment tours along with service in South Korea and Delaware. At the completion of my active duty enlistment, I re-enlisted into the Air Force Reserves in Aircraft Structural Maintenance. I primarily worked in the C5 Isochronal Inspection Dock for another four years. I now work for the Department of Veterans Affairs Police, as the Operations Captain (currently detailed to Major / Compliance Officer) at the Wilmington VA Medical Center in Delaware.

In addition to my military service, I have been involved in volunteer fire and EMS from the age of 14, with various departments in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Over those years, I have served in various capacities including EMS Director of Operations/Chief, EMS Deputy Chief, EMS Assistant Chief, EMS Captain, EMS Quality Assurance Officer, Fire Lieutenant, and Fire Recorder. In administrative roles, I have been a Secretary, Board of Directors member, and Trustee. I worked full time as an EMT in the Hershey/Harrisburg area for six years. Along with my service as a provider, I am also a Pennsylvania EMT Instructor, EVOC Instructor from VFIS, and former CPR Instructor/Trainer (BLS Training Site Faculty) for the US Air Force.”
Instead of Christopher Petters, an American national, as named above, this paper later gathered that the personality who was appointed by President Boakai as Officer-In-Charge of the LDEA is a Liberian national, Christopher Peters (aka Chris Peters) who is no stranger to the security sector of Liberia.
Mr. Christopher Peters who has been appointed by President Boakai is a Liberian, who is now serving as Acting Senior Foreign Service National Investigator/ Diplomatic Security at the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia.
He is an ex-officer of the Liberia National Police- (Police Support Unit-PSU) basic police training class. Mr. Christopher Peters holds a Master’s degree in Public Sector Management from Cuttington University Graduate and Professional School and Bachelor in Criminal Justice Administration from the A.M.E. Zion University. The error is sincerely regretted and any inconvenience it may have caused.
