Ganta, Nimba: Several members and leaders of the Methodist Churches in Nimba County have strongly called on the Bishop of the United Methodist Church in Liberia to state clearly the local church’s position relative to same sex marriage and homosexual practices as accepted by a global Methodist Church Conference recently held in the United States of America (USA).
Members and leaders of the Methodists asked the Resident Bishop of the United Methodist Church of Liberia, Samuel Jerome Quire Jr., to give the local Methodist Church in Liberia’s formal position about same Sex Marriage and Homosexual practices as recently approved by a global conference of the Methodist Church held in the United States of America recently.
Responding to the demand of the local Methodists, Bishop Quire urged Methodist Churches in Liberia to reject such practices. The Bishop urged Methodists church members and leaders in Liberia to remain united.
Bishop Quire further told the aggrieved Methodists who invited him from Monrovia to Ganta, Nimba County, that the Methodist Church in Liberia will not allow such practices and that he was opposed to such behaviors.
Bishop Quire was quizzed on Saturday at the Miller McAllister United Methodist church by members of Methodist churches in Nimba.
