MONROVIA: ECC, Liberia’s leading elections observer Group, on June 29, 2024, announced the appointment of Mr. Malcolm W. Joseph as its new Board Chairperson effective immediately.

Mr. Joseph will henceforth serve as head of the ECC with full powers as provided in the constitution of the organization.

Mr. Malcolm Joseph is a highly respected Civil Society leader and Media Development Expert with a proven track record of success.

He has been an active member of the ECC Board of Directors. He is also Executive Director of the Center for Media Studies and Peace Building.

Moving forward, Mr. Joseph will provide leadership, strategic guidance, and oversight for the ECC, as the ECC continues to drive growth and position itself as Liberia’s credible electoral observatory.

The new appointment as Board Chairperson is based on a unanimous decision reached by members of the Board of Directors of the ECC, a statement issued in Monrovia said.

According to then ECC statement, “This decision is intended to fill the leadership void occasioned by the resignation of Cllr. Oscar Bloh as chairperson.”

Among other things, Mr. Joseph is expected to demonstrate his proven professional competence and leadership finesse at this crucial moment of rolling out the ECC USAID-funded post-election activities.

He is expected to provide leadership in sustaining the ECC national footprint and innovate new ideas, without reinventing the wheel, in tandem with the ECC’s strategic objectives.

It is the view of many knowledgeable persons that the new chairperson is a team player, the statement added.

He looks forward to the supportive role of the Board and management team to leverage emerging opportunities and consolidate the gains recorded by Liberia’s lead domestic election observatory.

Mr. Joseph brings over 20 years of professional experience in media, and good governance, which combined his wealth of experience reassures success of his tenure.
In assuming the position, Malcolm Joseph on behalf of the board and management was full of thanks and appreciation of his predecessor Cllr. Oscar Bloh for the astute leadership stint he provided at the helm of ECC.
