MONROVIA: The Liberia Digital Transformation Project is set to graduate over 10,000 students, primarily unskilled youths, who have successfully completed intensive two-week courses.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Liberia Post and Telecommunications (LPT), along with international partners.

This groundbreaking project was launched following President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s approval of a proposal to establish the Liberia Digital Transformation Project.

The project aims to create opportunities for thousands of Liberian youths by providing them with new skills in digital technology.

The training covers a range of subjects including e-commerce, software development, digital marketing, an introduction to computer science, and IT management, among other significant courses.

The Liberia Digital Transformation Plan sets an ambitious target of training 5,000 youths across the country over the next six years, under the leadership of President Boakai’s administration.

Today, with 10,000 youths having engaged in the digital training program, hundreds of young people are taking the first steps towards acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital age.

Beneficiaries of the program have expressed their deep gratitude to President Boakai’s administration for the resources that made this intensive two-week training possible. This initiative has provided Liberian youths with the tools to rebuild their skills through technology and innovation, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to their communities during these challenging times.

According to the project organizers, President Boakai is expected to personally present certificates to the hundreds of candidates who participated in the courses organized by the Liberia Digital Transformation Project.

In his first State of the Nation address, President Boakai pledged to train 10,000 youth in digital skills within his first six months in office.

Although the initiative took slightly longer to roll out, its success is now evident across the country, according to the Liberia Telecommunications Authority. The program has reached young adults in all 15 counties, equipping them with essential digital skills to thrive in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

The Initiative’s success required extensive planning, including the recruitment and training of teachers who were provided with the necessary materials to instruct the students who registered online.

While over 11,000 individuals signed up, the initial phase was designed to accommodate 10,000 participants.

The Liberia Digital Transformation Project stands as a testament to the administration’s commitment to empowering the nation’s youth and fostering a future where technology and innovation drive progress.
