MONROVIA: Family members, friends and associates of former Chief Justice of Liberia, Cllr. Gloria Musu-Scott, jubilated yesterday, Wednesday, August 28, 2024, following the immediate release of Justice Scott and two of her family members.

The jubilation was held on the grounds of the Supreme Court of Liberia on Capitol Hill and the premises of the Monrovia Central Prison on UN Drive, for the immediate release of Scott and others after they were acquitted by the Supreme Court of Liberia.

Liberia’s Chief Justice, Her Honor, Sie-A-Nyene G. Youh, reading the final opinion of the Court said , the State failed to provide the weapon used to stab the deceased nine times.

She added that the State also failed to provide the role each defendant played during the murder.

The state also admitted that there were burglaries at the defendant’s home two times before the incident occurred among other counts.

The state failed to prove beyond all reasonable doubts that the defendants committed the crimes, the Chief Justice said.

The Supreme Court has reversed the Lower Court’s decision to sentence Justice Scott and others to life imprisonment and ordered their immediate release from prison after spending nearly 15 months in jail.
