SINGAPORE: In a significant stride towards maritime collaboration, the Liberian Permanent Mission delegation has engaged in fruitful discussions with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore during the Asia Decarbonization Summit.
Led by Liberia’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Robert Wilmot Kpadeh, the delegation explored avenues of mutual cooperation, technical support, and knowledge sharing to bolster Liberia’s maritime industry.
The talks highlighted Singapore’s commitment to providing technical assistance and training opportunities to enhance Liberia’s maritime capabilities.
This partnership holds promise for Liberia’s ‘Blue Economy’ vision, aimed at diversifying revenue streams and advancing the country’s maritime sector.
With Singapore’s expertise and support, Liberia is poised to benefit from the wealth of experience of a leading maritime nation.
The impending discussions at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) summit in London are anticipated to solidify key specifics of an imminent maritime pact between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced collaboration and growth in the maritime industry.
According to a Dispatch from London, the Liberian delegation comprised Permanent Representative, Robert Kpadeh; and Alternate Permanent Representative and IMO MEPC’s Chair, Dr. Harry Conway.
At the same time, Singapore is a leading maritime country and Council Member of IMO, and its Sea Port is ranked amongst the tenth largest ports in the world. It has a burgeoning blue economy with every aspect of its marine industry fully functioning.
