MONROVIA: Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Nyumalin, has urged stakeholders in Lofa County to move beyond divisive politics, emphasizing that unity is essential for the county’s growth and development.
Speaking recently during the induction ceremony of local government officials in Foyah District, Minister Nyumalin highlighted the detrimental effects of political division on the residents and the overall progress of the region.
Minister Nyumalin stated, “Divisive politics among stakeholders will slow down growth and development in Lofa County.
“ We must work together to foster an environment that promotes reconciliation and collaboration for the benefit of all residents,” he said.
The Minister’s remarks come in the wake of recent political violence in Foyah District, which he described as the epicenter of tensions.
He encouraged newly inducted officials to initiate reconciliation efforts throughout the county, noting that such initiatives have already begun to yield positive results in Foyah District.
In response, Foyah City Mayor, Josiah Saakeh, expressed the commitment of the newly inducted local officials to collaborate with stakeholders and residents to transform the district.
He emphasized that working together will accelerate the Government’s ARREST Agenda, aimed at improving development across Liberia, with Lofa County being no exception.
Mayor Saakeh also underscored the importance of implementing various city ordinances to maintain cleanliness and order within Foyah City.
He expressed gratitude to President Joseph Boakai for the trust placed in them to serve their county at the local level.
The induction ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, marked the end of months of uncertainty regarding local leadership positions in Foyah District.
