MONROVIA: In a landmark event for the National Port Authority (NPA), a new fleet of vehicles was officially launched, signaling a commitment to operational excellence and employees welfare.

The ceremony took place at the NPA Headquarters in Monrovia on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, and featured a diverse lineup of vehicles, including eleven pickup carbines, a fire truck, and a groundbreaking ambulance.

This initiative is poised to significantly enhance the capabilities of the four main ports in Liberia: Freeport of Monrovia, Buchanan Port, Greenville Port, and Harper Port.

Mr. Charles Massalay, the Executive Director for Procurement, took the stage to commend Sekou A.M. Dukuly for his leadership and transparent procurement process that facilitated this critical acquisition.

The introduction of an ambulance marks a notable first for the NPA, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to ensuring the safety and health of its workforce.

Mr. John Siaway, Senior Director for Transport, assured attendees that the Transport Department would prioritize the maintenance of the new fleet, ensuring that these vehicles are kept in optimal condition for years to come.

During his address, the NPA Boss highlighted the invaluable contributions of the NPA workforce, attributing their dedication and hard work to the high-quality services offered across the ports.

He noted that the procurement of these vehicles is part of a broader strategy to support workforce development and enhance Liberia’s economic landscape.

With an impressive 95% of the nation’s GDP passing through the NPA, Dukuly emphasized the authority’s crucial role in improving port facilities and expanding trade routes.

Dukuly urged the workforce to rally behind President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s agenda, which aims to foster a prosperous future for all Liberians.

He expressed confidence that this new fleet would not only improve operational efficiency but also boost employee morale, creating a more effective and motivated workforce.

As Liberia continues to navigate the complexities of economic growth and development, the NPA’s investment in its infrastructure and personnel stands as a testament to its commitment to progress and excellence.

This development is more than just an upgrade; it represents a strategic move towards a brighter economic future for Liberia.
