MONROVIA, Liberia’s Labor Minister, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, Sr. has expressed fullest support to all community endeavors against drug addiction.
Minister Kruah lamented the unprecedented rise in the use of harmful substances, particularly among the youthful population whom he described as: “the crust of the country’s work force”, a Labor Ministry press release has said.
The labor minister made these assertions over the weekend when he officially launched ‘National Outreach Awareness on Illegal Drugs’, under the joint initiative of the Petty Traders Association of Bushrod Island and National Market Women Association of Liberia at the Duala Market Building on the Bushrod Island.
The release added that Minister Kruah received a special certificate of honor from the two grassroots institutions for what they termed as ‘ his tremendous achievements in promoting the creation of jobs for Liberians and transformation of the labor sector, within short span of takeover.
The release notes that Minister Kruah’s statement was delivered on his behalf by the Assistant Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Mr. E. Frederick Baye, at the well-attended program on Saturday, October 26.
The release disclosed that the Minister presented an initial amount of US$200.00 to the two entities to jump start the anti-drug awareness exercise, promising the government’s overall support to this worthwhile undertaking.
Officials of the two grassroots institutions, Mr. James Teeman and Madam Rebecca David, are quoted by the release as commending the labor minister for identifying with their program.
At the same time, Minister Kruah has been honored by the Leadership of the Civil Society Network of Liberia for his ongoing labor improvement, particularly prioritizing the employment and benefits for Liberians at various concessions.
The honor was bestowed on the labor minister recently on the sidelines of a major meeting of Stakeholders of National Anti-Human Trafficking Task force, chaired by the Minister at his 4th floor office and attended by several top officials of the Ministry and a delegation of the National Civil Society Network of Liberia.
