MONROVIA: The Gorhai Youth Artee, Monrovia chapter, chairs by Mr. Emmanuel Gaye George, has called on the people of Graded Geded County District #1 to remain calm as it relates to the bribery allegation against Representative Jeremiah Sokan Sr., of District #1, Grand Gedehy County.
In a statement issue in Monrovia, the Gorhai Youth Artee, Monrovia chapter said, “these allegations suggest that he accepted US $15,000 for endorsement of a petition aimed at the removal of House Speaker, J. Fonati Koffa.
“We respectfully urge the public, especially the residents of Grand Gedeh County, to approach these claims with caution and to refrain from hasty judgments that may undermine the longstanding reputation of Hon. Sokan. He is a respected figure who has garnered the trust of both national and international stakeholders throughout his career,” said the statement.
The youth group pointed out that Representative Sokan’s “previous associations with esteemed institutions such as the EPA and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning are indicative of his integrity and commitment to service.”
The Gorhai Youth Artee emphasizes the importance of constructive dialogue and acknowledges that public figures may naturally be subjected to scrutiny by their constituents.
“However, we express our concerns that unfounded allegations could be manipulated by certain interests pursuing political agendas. As a community organization, we remain committed to championing the integrity of dedicated public servants like Hon. Sokan.
“We encourage Hon. Jeremiah G. Sokan Sr. to continue his diligent service to the constituents of Tchien District, Grand Gedeh County, and the wider Liberian community.
“His tireless efforts are appreciated by those he represents, who continue to hold him in high regard. The Gorhai Youth Artee stands firmly in support of him in all his endeavors,” the statement, signed by Abel Zarkpa,
