MONROVIA: The People’s Republic of China through its embassy in Liberia, has made a donation of food items to the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) as a way for strengthening of China’s relationship with public schools in Monrovia.
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Chinese Embassy donated the following items for MCSS: 300 bags of rice(25kg), 100 barrels of oil(20liter), 300 cans of milk powder (400g),150 cans of beef (340g), 50 Whiteboard, 100 Whiteboard Markers, 25 Basketball, and 25 Football.
Remarking at the donation ceremony, Ambassador Yin Chengwu said that it is China’s little way of encouraging student to take education seriously and be motivated.
He asserted that there are more supplies to be donated to the public schools in Monrovia as they look forward to strengthening their ties with high school students.
For his part, Superintendent of the MCSS, James Momoh, thanked the Chinese government for the initiative as he pleads with the Chinese team to award MCSS teachers with scholarships to study few teaching courses in China.
According to him with, such scholarships given out to teachers, it will serve as capacity building that will help students in MCSS benefit from the knowledge those teachers will acquire during their studies.
At the same time, she acknowledged the Chinese Ambassador that the food items will go straight to the Early Childhood Education Center at the various MCSS because they are the ones that need them most currently.
Meanwhile, Monrovia City Mayor, John Siafa acknowledged the Chinese embassy for the opportunities they have given universities students thus far and for the effort they are now making to the public high schools.
He vowed to continue working with them as they are in the interest of Monrovia and Liberia at large.
