MONROVIA: Rev. Dr. Jerry P. Kulah has categorically rejected his suspension from the United Methodist Church by Bishop Samuel Quire.
It can be recalled, Rev. Dr. Jerry P Kulah was suspended along with other Pastors from the United Methodist Church for their reported advocacy against the regionalization law that paves the way for lesbians and gays to get married in the Methodist Church of Liberia.

The United Methodist Church, for the past months, has been in serious crisis, thereby leading to the breakaway of other member Churches.

They claim that Bishop Samuel Quire returned from global Methodist Conference in the United States, his intention is to campaign for the regionalization law for the matrimonial blessing of gays and lesbians in the Methodist Church of Liberia.

Rev./ Dr. Kulah, who is also the Vice President of the Bishop John Innis Graduate School stressed that Bishop Quire has no authority to authorize his suspension from the United Methodist Church.

“What Bishop Quire is trying to do is to keep the Church hostage and compel the Church to do what he wants them to do,” he asserted.”

He maintained that Bishop Quire is not a member of the Liberia Annual Conference due to his role as Presiding Bishop of the Church. He stressed that the Presiding Bishop has no authority to determine decision for the Liberia Annual Conference.

Rev. Kulah, at the same time, accused Bishop Quire of refusing to allow the delegation that he (Rev. Kulah) headed to the Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in April of this year to meet and discuss on the recommendation from the Conference that was held in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

“I have been standing firm in opposition to Bishop Samuel Jerome Quire’s plan to forcibly endorse same sex marriage and legalizing regionalization in the Church, he (Bishop) has chosen under disguise to suspend me as the Vice President for the Graduate School, thereby disadvantaging students of learning,” he stated.

Rev. Kulah however stressed that the allegations levied against him for his suspension do not have any merit and will continue to serve in the Church as a Reverend until his demise.

The Methodist Clergy man further vowed to rally members of the United Methodist Church this Weekend to peacefully march at the UMC office on 12th Street Sinkor, Monrovia, to inform the World about how Bishop Quire is grossly misleading the Church.

“I want to tell the Bishop today and United Methodist Church members listening to me that the action of the Bishop is illegal and I hereby reject his suspension. I remain an active elder in full connection and he has no authority to stop me from preaching, teaching and counselling in the Church. I will continue to perform the function that God has endowed me with, the only person that can stop me is the Lord Jesus Christ”, he concluded.
