MONROVIA: Following the recognition of the ‘Majority Bloc’ by the Liberian government, the main opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has called for DC calls for an emergency meeting.

According to press release issued on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, CDC said the Wednesday meeting will be held at 2pm by the Party’s National Executive Committee along with party stakeholders to be held at the party’s Headquarters in Congo Town, Monrovia under the stewardship of the National Chairman, Janga Augustus Kowo.
The CDC categorically states that it stands with the ruling of the Supreme Court and recognizes House Speaker, Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa as the duly elected Speaker of the country.
Accordingly, the CDC said the agenda of the meeting will be to address the current anarchy that President Boakai’s leadership has plunged the country into.
Following the meeting, the CDC will reach a determination to call on the people to cease from tolerating Boakai as President of the country, a decision that will be communicated to our international partners including the African Union, Economic Community of West African States, United Nations, US Embassy etc.
