LOWER MARGIBI COUNTY: President Joseph N. Boakai has broken ground for a new national clinical diagnosis and treatment laboratory Center at the 14th Military Hospital.
The ground breathing ceremony was held on the 20th of December 2024 on the ground of the 14th Medical hospital in Lower Margibi County, Suffered Town.
On March 6, 2018, a commitment was signed between the Chinese government and the Republic of Liberia for the Construction of a national Clinical and Treatment Laboratory Facility at the 14th Military Hospital.
Following this commitment, the Ministry of Defense Civil work department, Armed Forces of Liberia Engineering and Medical department and Ministry of Health infrastructure department founded a technical working group to consider detail design for the project.
The main project focus exclusively of Laboratory activities, however because they needed to expand further departments at 14th Military Hospital a request was forwarded to Chinese Government for an additional departments to strengthen their Clinical capabilities.
On September 17, 2019 a delegation from a Chinese Ministry of Health visited Liberia to discuss the project feasibility and doing this President Joseph government, the Liberian technical working group reminded the Chinese delegation about the adjustment with in projecting infrastructure to Liberia current health infrastructure challenges and after further justification their request were made with a intensive Care Unit, an operating center and a computerized thermography Scan or ( CT )scan.
The conclusion of the project, it will serve Liberia and its south regions and further position the Armed Forces of Liberia as a force for good in its civil Military collaboration strategies and also support the efforts of the Ministry of Health as leading institution for the provision of health care services in cross Liberia.
Meanwhile the Laboratory will also support the National Public Health Institution of Liberia ( NPHIL) in preparation detection and response to compound effected disease.
The president of the Republic of Liberia Joseph Nyuma Boakai said, the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Clinical diagnosis & Laboratory is a significant Maine stone of the preparation of Liberia health care and infrastructure.
According to president Boakai, they are prepared to support area for the betterment of Liberians social and economy critical needs, and by leading the groundbreaking for Liberians future national clinical diagnosis & laboratory,
The ground will be broken put together state facility that will serve the people of hope to be in progress.
He said it’s a remarkable project by Chinese government.
China and Liberia have been friends for a long period of time in partnership of development.
It is also a testament of a truth commitment to improve the health wellbeing in of the people of Liberia.
President Boakai also appreciated the government of Chine and a development partner, Chine Aid, for their hard support towards Liberia in growth of Infrastructure across the country.
Meanwhile, Liberia Defense Minister, Brig. General Geraldine J. George (retired) also embraced the huge development project by Chinese government through Chine Aid .
According to her, the driving partnership between Liberia and Chine has been instrumental in driving Liberia development forwards and today is another testament to Liberian palladium friendship with Chine in development.
He said Chine has been stand fast to Liberians developmental joining in various sectors of government and the Ministry of Defense has benefited from the partnership by receiving lot of donations for capacity building initiative in Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces of Liberia .
The Liberian Defense Minister stressed the contribution by Chine is enhanced the Ministry Capabilities for their preparedness to better serve and protect Liberia Nation.
She emphasized that the establishment of the health care facility is a groundbreaking achievement that help Liberian health care system and the facility will enhance treatment capability to hard medical services and it will play a viral road Liberia health care challenges, improving patience outcomes and contributing overall health and prosperity.
