To Practice At International Criminal Court: Cllr. Arthur Johnson Gets Greenlight

THE HAGUE: In a groundbreaking achievement, esteemed Liberian legal practitioner, Cllr. Arthur T. Johnson, has been given the greenlight to practice before the prestigious International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, as well as all International Criminal Tribunals.

With an impressive twenty-five years of experience in criminal law, criminal justice, and international and diplomatic studies, Cllr. Johnson’s admission marks a significant milestone for the Liberian Legal Community.

The Association of Defense Counselors practicing before the International Courts and Tribunals has cleared Cllr. Johnson to serve as a defense counsel, recognizing his exceptional expertise and dedication to the field.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, Cllr. Johnson was presented with a Certificate of Good Standing by the Association, dated April 18, 2024, and signed by Dominic Kennedy, Head of Office, ADC-ICT.

The certificate attests that Cllr. Arthur T. Johnson is admitted as a Full Member in Good Standing of the ADC-ICT, in accordance with the ADC-ICT Constitution, Article 13.2.

It further confirms that Cllr. Johnson has not been subject to any disciplinary proceedings and holds no outstanding financial obligations to the Association. This esteemed recognition is valid until December 31, 2024.

Expressing his delight at the opportunity, Cllr. Johnson shared his happiness at being admitted to the International Criminal Court and other tribunals.

He eagerly looks forward to representing not only his clients but also fellow Liberians before these esteemed courts.

Cllr. Johnson’s admission brings the number of Liberian lawyers practicing before the International Criminal Court to two, with former Solicitor General of Liberia, Cllr. Sayma Syrenius Cephus, being the first lawyer to achieve this distinction.

This remarkable achievement not only highlights the exceptional legal talent within Liberia but also showcases the country’s commitment to justice on a global scale.

The Liberian legal community celebrates this milestone and eagerly anticipates the positive impact that Cllr. Johnson’s expertise will have on the international stage.

Cllr. Arthur T. Johnson, is a well-known legal consultant and educator with multiple credentials and over 25 years of experience in criminal law, criminal justice, and international and diplomatic studies.

He has a passion for teaching, researching, and advocating for justice and human rights in Liberia and beyond.

Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Law at Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia, where he teaches criminal law and criminal procedure law to aspiring lawyers.

Cllr. Johnson is also the Dean and Professor at Wilfred E. Clarke College of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Administration, at the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion University, where he oversees the academic and administrative affairs of the college and instructs courses on criminal investigation, criminology, constitutional law, and law enforcement administration.

Additionally, Cllr. Johnson is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Senior Legal Consultant at Consortium of Legal Practitioners Incorporated, a law firm that provides legal services and advice to clients on various legal matters.
